New Course Opening Competition
Pike Fold opened it’s doors on Sunday to 18 holes of golf for the first time in it’s 100 year old history.
All categories of golfer swarmed up to the course to play the new 9 holes added to the existing course. The poor weather did not deter the members and there was an audible buzz as each 4 ball teed off in anticipation.
An addition to the delight of playing a new course in excellent condition despite the awful weather we’ve had lately, was the added attraction of seeing three wild deer leaping across the course in the early morning. In addition to the numerous other species of wildlife such as Swans, Canada geese and any number of different ducks. Eagles, however, were hard to come by.
First to tee off onto the new land was the captain, John Whelan who sent a screamer down the middle of the fairway to much applause. That was the best of his round however as he faded into obscurity.
The course is now well and truly open to visitors and societies looking for a new challenge and we at Pike Fold are sure that once played they will be smitten”.
