Dear Members
I feel both proud and privileged to represent Pike Fold as Captain in 2010 and look forward to the year ahead working with council and staff in the ongoing development of our club.
It will be my aim, with your help, to continue to raise our profile as one of the best 18 hole golf courses in the Greater Manchester area and with this in mind would ask you to support your council and officers in the difficult roles they undertake on your behalf.
We have a reputation for being one of the most informal and friendliest clubs in the area, this I think adds greatly to our appeal in these modern times, but should not be seen to undermine the traditional values associated with our sport, such as good manners, respect for each other and our course together with the R & A rules, etiquette and code of golf.
As you will all no doubt appreciate 2009 has been a tough year for many people with the economic down turn, job loses and the like, and Pike Fold and its membership have been no exception, we too have had a tough time, as have many other golf clubs and the prediction for 2010 is another tough year. With your help we will ride out the economic storm and build on the achievements made so far, so please make use of our facilities, play loads of golf and come and have a pint or two afterwards.
Both the Lady Captain and I have selected Bury Hospice as our nominated charity and hope you will support and assist us in raising funds for this praise worthy and much needed facility.
Finally I would like to take this opportunity to wish you well for 2010 and look forward to seeing you both on and off the course.
